The Logic of Capital and Hegemonic Logic

I will attempt a dialogue between the theory of hegemony of Ernesto Laclau and the categorial interpretation of Marx by Moishe Postone. No significant comparisons between these authors have been attempted. I will make two big conceptual movements. First, I will try to show that the hegemonic logic of Laclau is not originary and does not found the social nexus, but appears logically constituted by the dynamic of capital as Postone studies it. By reading capitalism as a social form in which direct social bonds recede and social mediation is governed by value and labor, it is possible to re-inscribe Laclau?s ideas in a non-dogmatic understanding of the logic of capital. Second, I will try to defend the relevance of the hegemonic conception of politics, no longer as an originary social ontology, but as a limited (yet partially effective) social logic characteristic of capitalist society.
