Resumen:
Herein we present a new synthetic method to obtain layered hydroxides: the Epoxide Route. This method take advantage of the state-of-the-art in obtaining highly tuneable layeredinorganic and hybrid phases. This synthetic method is carried out at room temperature driving the synthesis in a one-pot procedure. The new obtained phases are studied by DFT+Usimulation, where the in situ experiments provide a broad understanding of the physicochemical rules that control the layered phases. The synergy of a highly tuneable syntheticapproach and the great potential of the DFT+U simulation pave the way to a rational design of more complex layered hydroxides with electronic and magnetic properties on demand
