Resumen:
Running Condition and Material Response Fretting Maps of Incoloy 800 steam generator tubes against AISI 304 L were determined in air at room temperature. Tests were performed up to 10 6 cycles using displacement amplitudes between 5 and 50 μm and normal contact loads in the range 5?20 N. The regimes identified were Partial Slip (PSR), Gross Slip (GSR) and Mixed Fretting (MFR). In PSR only slight surface damage corresponding to a false brinelling effect of the contacting surfaces was detected. In MFR, fretting wear associated with particle detachment was identified as the main damage mechanism, while the formation of cracks was not detected. In GSR, fretting wear was predominant. Detached debris in GSR were agglomerates of (Ni,Fe)(Fe,Cr) 2 O 4 with sizes between 5 and 20 nm.
