Resumen:
Highly accurate radiotherapy
techniques need the development of dosimetry
systems suitable for in-vivo, real time dose
assessment (Beddar 2007). The well established
fiberoptic dosimetry (FOD) technique relying on the
use of Al2O3:C scintallators fulfils most of these
requirements nowadays. One of the problems
afflicting Al2O3:C is that its spectral emission
matches that of spurious Cherenkov emission (stem
effect). Although this problem has been met in linear
accelerators by resorting to a temporal separation
technique (Andersen et al. 2006) there is a permanent
interest in developing new luminescent materials
emitting at longer wavelengths than the stem effect
(Marcazzó et al. 2007, Molina et al. 2010). In this
work the RL efficiency of different doped potassium
fluorides is investigated in order to assess their
possible use in the framework of the FOD technique.
