Resumen:
Orally administered Lactobacillus rhamnosus CRL1505 (Lr05) improves antiviral immunity in local (intestine) and distal (respiratory) mucosal sites. Transcriptomic studies of the effect of Lr05 on TLR3-mediated immune response in porcine intestinal epithelial (PIE) cells allowed the selection of biomarkers with the potential to be used in the screening and characterization of new immunobiotics strains. In this work, several strains of lactobacilli were evaluated according to their ability to modulate the expression of IFNα, IFNβ, RIG1, OAS1, RNASEL, MX2, A20, IL1β, IL6, CCL4, PTEGES and PTGER4 in PIE cells after the stimulation with the TLR3 agonist poly(I:C). Comparative analysis of transcripts variations revealed that one of the studied strains, Lactobacillus plantarum MPL16 (Lp16), clustered together with Lr05, indicating a similar immunomodulatory potential. Then, two sets of in vivo experiments in 6-week-old Balb/c mice were performed to evaluate Lp16 immunomodulatory activities. A) Orally administered Lp16 prior intraperitoneal injection of poly(I:C) significantly reduced (p
