Resumen:
Paracacioxylon frenguellii sp. nov., belonging to the subfamily Mimosoideae  is  described here. This taxon is based on petrified wood from Palacio de  los Loros locality, central Patagonia, Argentina, from the Salamanca Formation (Early Paleocene). This new species represents not only the oldest record of wood belonging to this genus – and to the Fabaceae in the western border of the Gondwana - but it is also the world is second oldest record for wood of the  Mimosoideae subfamily. Paracacioxylon frenguellii shows similarities with Mimosoideae genera from extant subtropical forests and it is related  closely Acacia.
