Resumen:
Cranial deformation is a sociocultural practice widely identified in Pampa and Northern Patagonia. Its chronological distribution has already been employed as a temporal marker in order to organize undated bioarchaeological records. This paper tries to update and integrate the spatial and chronological information specifically about the erect cranial deformation, in a wider spatial scale than accomplished in previous articles, including published, inedited and new data. A new chronological scheme is provided, taking into account the spatial and temporal distribution of the two erect variants (planolambdic and planofrontal). Recent research in La Pampa province provided the oldest dated skull with planolambdic deformation in the area. Some sociocultural hypotheses are sketched considering the tendencies identified.
