Resumen:
Soil is a natural system colonized by various microorganisms including bacteria, fungi, and actinomycetes (Foster, 1988). The portion of soil in which microbial proliferation is induced by plant roots is called ?rhizosphere? (Garate and Bonilla, 2000). Bacteria are most common soil microorganisms and those growing in the rhizosphere are called ?rhizobacteria?. Rhizobacteria possessing direct capacity to promote plant growth are referred as Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria, (PGPR; Kloepper et al., 1989) and those that promote plant growth through indirect mechanism are called biocontrol Plant Growth Promoting Bacteria, (biocontrol-PGPB; Bashan and Holguin, 1998).
