Resumen:
The design of a low-cost solar water heater that operates by autonomous forced recirculation is presented. Recirculation is obtained through the application of a 5 W and 12 V mini pump, powered by a 10 W photovoltaic panel. Thus achieving a simple, effective and economical automation. Cheap and easily accessible materials were thought of for its construction, with the idea of promoting self-construction. The objective was to design a solar water heater capable of delivering 110 liters of water a day at least 50°C in cold days, satisfying the demand for domestic hot water in a single-family home. Also, that your thermal accumulation tank is capable of keeping the water hot at night. The collector absorber was made with a 100-meter spiral of low-density polyethylene hose covering an area of 2m x 2m. The thermal accumulation tank for hot water has a capacity of 110 liters, made entirely of plastic. A prototype was thermally tested in winter in order to verify its efficiency in the worst conditions. The design of the insulation of the thermal accumulation tank was evaluated, proposing the strategy of its location inside the house (bathroom or kitchen) in order to reduce nocturnal heat losses. The massive application of this new concept of solar water heater can be an alternative for obtaining sanitary hot water in developing countries, reducing the burning of fossil fuels, preserving the environment.
