Resumen:
Wetlands (FTWs) planted with Canna indica. Accumulation in plant tissues and sediment was alsostudied. Reactors without FTW were also arranged to elucidate plant role. P and N concentrationstudied were 5 and 10 mg L-1, respectively. TP, SRP, NO3-, and NH4+ removal efficiencies wereabove 85% in reactors with FTW. P and N amount increased in C. indica tissues, mainly in rootsand rhizomes. Flower production was enhancing by P and N addition. P amounts in sediments ofreactors with FTW decreased at the end of the experiment. The obtained results show the ability ofC. indica to be used in FTWs for the removal of P and N, also providing aesthetic benefits.
