Resumen:
The purpose of active packaging is design lies in the fact of reaching a longer shelf life of food products, due to modification reactions on the film surface. One approach for that is by inhibiting microbial growth through addition of antimicrobial agent such as sodium benzoate, widely used as a food preservative. On the other hand, layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are suitable for food packaging nanocomposites because their storage capacity, transport, and controlled release of active compounds. Recent research works has been focused on the optimal LDHs synthesis and intercalation with novelty compounds, while adsorptions of LDH in a polymer matrix has been much less reported1. The aim of this work is to prepare a new antimicrobial food packaging using a modified surface of polypropylene (PP) with acrylic acid (AA) as a platform to adsorb LDHs with intercalated benzoate (Bz).
