TEM images confirm the growth of ZIF-8 into the Microgel network (no staining was necessary),which was also confirmed through 1H-NMR: it shows the coexistence of ZIF-8 and Microgel signals (2DNOESY spectrum showed the correlation between ZIF-8 and Microgel signals). DLS experiments showthat ZIF-8@microgel diffuses as only one particle and even more, no significant amount of ZIF-8 growthsoutside the Microgel network. On this regard, the TGA experiment shows a 1:1 ratio (in weight)between the microgel and ZIF-8. Crystalline nature of ZIF-8@Microgel was confirmed through WAXSexperiments. With all this in mind, it was shown that Microgels are suitable platforms to built ZIF-8composites, achieving a hierarchical structure with an increased intrinsic value.
