Resumen:
ZIF-8 and ZIF-67 belong to a relatively new class of microporous solid materials known as Metal-Organic Frameworks (also known as MOFs or Microporous Coordination Polymers),1,2 constituted by tetrahedrally coordinated Zn2+ and Co2+ metal ions, coordinated with bidentate 2-methylimidazolate (2-mim) bridging ligands.3?5 Being this two materials isoestructural, we explored kinetics of colloidal nucleation of bimetallic Zn:Co controlled-ratio nanocrystals with and without a chemical modulator (MPA or 3-mercaptopropionic acid, and Cysteamine), in order to create suitable building units for films over conductive substrates. The inclusion of Co2+/Co3+ redox couple would confer to the otherwise non-electroactive Zn2+ (ZIF-8) interesting properties such as the possiblitiy of redox mediation, while chemical modulators used are needed to control size distribution and to confer affinity for the substrate to be modified.
