Resumen:
This paper is based on a collection of 98 palynological samples from paraje El Rincón (Río Agro)  and Agua de Mula, Agrio Formation, Neuquén Province, Argentina. Muderongia Brachialis, is a new species from the Agrio Formation, Neuquén Basin, Argentina that is distinct from  similar species in the same levels, such as M. crusis (Neale and Sarjeant) Monteil 1991 and M. staurota (Sarjeant) Monteil 1991. Muderongia brachialis is currently known from the basal Upper Member of the unit, from levels with  ammonites of the Spitidiscus riccardii and basal Crioceratites schlagintweiti Biozones (Aguirre-Urreta and Rawson, 1997) which span the uppermost lower Hauterivian. The restricted stratigraphic range of  the Argentinian form, if confirmed in more sections, would make M. brachialis a good local index species, principally in subsurface levels  or sections lacking ammonites.
