Resumen:
The aim of this paper is to present a discussion of the human peopling of southern Patagonia, fundamentally based on the temporal and spatial distribution of calibrated radiocarbon dates. Comparisons with paleoenvironmental proxies (e.g., temperature curves) at both, hemispheric and regional scales will be made, in order to discuss the distributional pattern of the radiocarbon dataset. Finally, a critical appraisal of the advantages and disadvantages of the approaches that use radiocarbon dates as data will be made, especially focusing on the demographic implications of such analyses.
