Resumen:
Pure and cerium doped (0.05, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 and 1.0 at. %) TiO2 were synthesized by sol?gel method. The obtained catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV?Visible diffused reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), BET surface area measurement and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The photo-catalytic activity of synthesized samples was investigated for the oxidative degradation of phenol in aqueous suspension. We found that the efficiency of phenol degradation decreased with the increment of Ce in the catalyst. Relations between physical and optical characteristics and performance were discussed.
