Resumen:
Primary progressive aphasia (PPA) is characterized predominantly by a linguistic impairment. Recent and previous evidence have shown the presence of parkinsonism in patients with diagnosis of PPA. Further evidence characterizes differential atrophy patterns of the clinical subtypes of PPA: non-fluent (PNFA), semantic dementia (SD) and logopenic (PLA). The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of parkinsonian signs in the 3 variants of PPA and to investigate the association of PPA atrophy and these parkinsonian signs. assessment. The more typical motor symptom in PNFA was bradykinesia and in PLA was tremor. We conclude that the presence of parkinsonism in PPA patients would not only characterize different subtypes of PPA, but also correspond to different patterns of atrophy.Parkinsonian signs its neuroimaging correlates may represent diagnostic features that complements the linguistic profile in PPA subtype, thus contributing to a correct diagnosis and to be useful for future treatments.
