Resumen:
The most commonly representatives (non-cultivated) of the Lamiaceae family found inPatagonia include one species of an adventitious oregano, Origanum vulgare L., threenaturalized species of mint, Mentha rotundifolia L., M. pulegium L. and M. spicata L.and two native species: Clinopodium darwinii (Benth.) Kuntze and Scutellarianummulariifolia Hook. f. The essential oils were isolated by hydrodistillation of theaerial parts of each of these species collected during three years and analyzed by GCFID-MS. The major components found were isomenthone (7.6-11.8%) and pulegone(57.3-84.0%) in M. pulegium; piperitenone oxide (68.5%) in M. rotundifolia; carvone(49.3- 67.6%) in M. spicata; sabinene (4.2%), p-cymene (26.5%) and linalool (15.3%)in Origanum vulgare; pulegone (56.6-70.0 %) in Clinopodium darwinii; acetophenone(19.0%) and alpha−terpineol (9.5%) in Scutellaria nummulariifolia. The latter findingsare the first report on the chemical composition of the essential oil of S.nummulariifolia.Keywords: Scutellaria nummulariifolia
