The B[e] program at CASLEO-UT: Spectroscopy of B type emission line stars with compact dusty envelopes

We described the program undertaken in collaboration with astronomers at the University of Toledo in Ohio to study a group of southern stars with dusty envelopes, a characteristic of the B[e]. We are reporting here the results of our new spectroscopic and near-IR photometric (JHKLM) observations of two B- type stars with large IR excesses and an uncertain nature and evolutionary state, HD 85567 and Hen 3-140. Also we are reporting spectroscopic results for the stars: HD 87643, CD -48.7859, HDE 316285 and HDE 326823. In HD 85567 and Hen 3-140 the presence of double/peaked Balmer and Fe II lines in emission is detected. The He I lines are found in absortion, but most of them do not match corresponding photospheric profiles, possibly because of the presence of circumstellar veiling. Fundamental parameters of both stars are estimated on the basis of both photometric and spectroscopic data. A large near/IR excess is found in Hen 3-140 for the first time. The stars seem to be members of a small group of similar objects, whose peculiarities might be due to their binary nature (e.g. Miroshnichenko, Corporon, Sheikina, 1999, BAAS, 31, 845).
