Resumen:
p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; } Image potential states (IPS) around nanotubes have recently been experimentally detected by means of femptosecond resolved two-photon photoemission [Phys. Rev. Lett. 93, 156803 (2004)]. In this article we theoretically address the photoemission from this particular kind of IPS. The quantum interaction between the bound electron and the incident radiation field is consideredwithin the dipolar approximation, and the transition matrix for the process is obtained using a first order Born expansion. A plane wave which is orthogonalized with respect to the initial bound state is used to model the final state of the emitted electron, while the initial wave function and energy are taken from the article by Granger and collaborators [Phys. Rev. Lett. 89, 135506 (2002)]. For a linearly polarized photon with polarization vector perpendicular to the nanotube’s axis, electrons are found to be emitted with a polar angle that is determined by the initial parallel momentum of the bound electron.
