Resumen:
In this paper, a model reduction methodology based on the orthonormal version of the canonical representation proposed in (Julian et al, 1999a) is presented. The approach is useful to reduce a given pice-wise lineal (PWL) function with a simplicial boundary configuration, when the number of required parameters is large. The proposed methodology is optimal in the sense that given a PWL function f and a certain allowable error eM, it produces the best PWL approximation f* with the minimum number of parameters, satisfying \mod(f-f*)<eM.
