Resumen:
Flux-calibrated integrated optical spectra have been obtained for a sample of 16 blue compact and high surface brightness Large MagellanicCloud (LMC) star clusters (SCs). We simultaneously derive foreground E(B−V) reddening values and ages for the SCs by comparing the linestrengths and continuum distribution of their integrated spectra with those of template LMC cluster spectra. Through evolutionary synthesismodels for simple stellar populations (SSPs) and using a full-spectrum fitting code, we also derive reddenings, ages and metallicities (Z/Zsolar) for the cluster sample. No metallicity determinations have been previously performed for 9 out of the 16 SCs here studied. We find good agreement between the cluster ages derived from the template matching method and those ages estimated from theoretical evolutionary synthesis models. All the studied SCs are found to be young, with adopted ages ranging from 15 Myr to 80 Myr, affected by reddening values typical for the LMC:0.00 < E(B−V) < 0.20. The derived metallicities Z/Zsolar range from 0.2 up to 1.0 (solar metal content). We also find a reasonably good agreement between the adopted ages and some previous estimations reported in the literature. In an effort to create a spectral library at the LMC metallicity level with several SCs per age range, the present cluster sample stands out as a useful complement to previous.
