OTHER: A multidisciplinary approach to the search for other inhabited worlds

We present project OTHER (Otros mundos, tierra, humanidad, and espacioremoto), a multidisciplinary laboratory of ideas, that addressesquestions related to the scientific search for extraterrestrialintelligent life such as: what is life? how did it originate? what mightbe the criteria that we adopt to identify what we might call anextraterrestrial civilization? As a starting point, we consider theDrake equation which offers a platform from which to address thesequestions in a multidisciplinary approach. As part of the project OTHER,we propose to develop and explain the last two parameters of the Drakeequation that we call the cultural factors: the fraction of intelligentcivilizations that want or seek to communicate , and the average lifetime of the same, . The innovation of the project OTHER is themultidisciplinary approach in the context of the Argentine community.Our goal is to provide new ideas that could offer new perspectives onthe old question: Are we alone?
