Resumen:
This paper presents a general kinematical model that permits describe the spatial motion of a non-conventional airborne wind energy system (AWES) like a pumping kite. The AWE device adopted for this study is based on an existing kiteplane and it is modelled as a rigid body. In order to achieve a robust and versatile formu-lation for the kinematics, the authors used some elements from differential geometry and classical dynamics (Euler?s angles). In this first stage, we only address the description of helical paths.This work provides the basis for future studies on aerodynamics, dynamics and aeroelasticity related to this kind of aeronautical systems, for which a detailed kinematic description is crucial.
