Resumen:
AbstractThis paper looks at the process from the production of knowledge and biomedical categories around sex-generic identities, to the recent changes in the ways of representing transgender people as legal subjects against the Argentine state. We will star by undoing the delimitation of a specific area of knowledge and intervention on the bodies, which intends to address transsexuality as a medicalization experience. We analyze the process that begin with a patient born in a ?wrong body? to the empowerment and positioning from that body as a vehicle, to demand and negotiate other possibilities of being in the world. In this paper, we look deeper around the particularities that transsexuality?s medical device acquired from the intervention in the political scene of sexual identity organizations, which greatly distance itself from patologization, without disassociate completely from medicalization. Therefore, is this last instance which enables them body interventions, hormonal and surgical, in public services.
