Resumen:
In the developing world, there is little information about urban areas. Remote sensing, GIS and models are key to study them. The aim of this chapter is to extract urban densities and then model urban sprawl and density changes in middle cities of Argentina. The methodology consisted in extracting three urban density classes using spectral mixture signatures. Then, a predictive simulation for a 30-year period was made using LanduseSIM. The results showed a compact and dense city center and its surroundings and an important process of sprawl in new areas.
