Resumen:
In this work, we use a windowless He UV lamp working at two different He gas pressures in a UHV chamber for surface analysis to obtain information on shallow core levels in solids. A substraction procedure is developed in order to be able to recover the core electron spectra excited by the He II line from the lamp. As an example, the Ge 3d core electron spectrum is recorded. The spin orbit splitting and ratio between the 3d5/2 and 3d3/2 lines is found to be in close agreement with results obtained using monocromatized synchrotron X-ray light.
