Resumen:
c-erb-2 and K-ras oncogene activation were studied in 106 cervical simples positives for DNA-HPV.  The association between oncogenes activation, HPV type, cytological status and patients age were evaluated. Oncogene activation and also HPV detection and typification were done by the polymerase chain reaction method. K-ras codon 12 mutations were detected in 10.37 % of the analyzed samples (11 of 106). Within the mutated group of samples, 14.81% corresponded to HPV-16, 29.4 % to HPV-18 and 5,4 % to HPV-6. Significant differences were found when K-ras mutation frequency was compared between HPV-6 and HPV-18 infected samples (p<0.01). Significant differences were found for c-erb-2 amplification between HPV-16 or -18 and HPV-6 infected samples (p<0.05). No association was found between oncogene activation and cytological status or patients age (p>0.05). The present data showed the association for HPV-18 and K-ras mutation. C-erb-2 amplification was associated with the “low risk” HPV type. While k-ras activation coul be one of the possible ways to achive cell transformation, c-erb-2 amplification seems to be not enough to promote the development of cervical carcinoma and coul be only an associated event to HPV-6 infection.
