The larva of Phyllopetalia apollo Selys is here described for the first time and the larva of Hypopetalia pestilens McLachlan is redescribed. These are the first records of both species for Argentina and for the eastern slope of the Andes. In order to determine the larval instars, length of inner wing pads was plotted against head width and a linear regression was estimated for both species. Six instars were identified for H. pestilens and eight for P. apollo.
