Resumen:
Pathogenic bacteria are able to develop resistance mechanisms to avoid the antimicrobialaction of antibiotics becoming a growing problem for the global health. A newbiocompatible antibacterial system with controlled effect is proposed. Pseudomonas aeruginosa wasused to test the bactericidal efficacy of a newly synthesizing silver nanoparticles insidepoly(N-isopropyl acrylamide and copolymerized with N-hydroxyethylacrylamide2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid) ( PNIPAM-co-2%AMPS-AgNP) as polymeric matrix. Thenanocomposite demonstrated fair antibacterial action. Viability studies, MTT assay, cytoplasmic leakageand reactive oxygen species (ROS) were analyzed. Obtained data in the present study suggest that thisnanocomposite is powerful and promising nanomaterial for reducing bacteria-associated infections anddisplaying a highly effective against the studied pathogenic bacteria.
