Resumen:
This special issue contains selected contributions from the XIIberoamerican Conference on Phase Equilibria and Fluid Propertiesfor Process Design (EQUIFASE 2018) which held in Cordoba,Argentina, from 22e25 October 2018.In 1984, and after the enthusiasm that captivated several LatinAmerican participants during the PPEPPD conference in CallawayGardens (US) the year before, Prof. Esteban Brignole organized anInternational Course on the Thermodynamics of Phase Equilibriain Bahía Blanca (Argentina). This course, which brought a largenumber of participants from industry and universities, was thefirststep for the series of EQUIFASE Conferences that started under suchname in Concepcion, Chile, 1987.With more than three decades of history and after ten previouseditions alternating between different Latin American countries,Spain and Portugal, EQUIFASE had already become a well-knownand recognized international conference among the Thermody-namics and Phase Equilibria community of researchers, evenbeyond Iberoamerican countries.EQUIFASE 2018 was attended by over 150 participants frommore than 20 countries of different continents and included theE.A. Brignole Award Lecture, 15 invited lectures, 17 oral presenta-tions, 127 poster contributions, and two special round table ses-sions. All abstracts were peer-reviewed before acceptance. The 17articles included in this issue reflect quite well the vital diversityof topics, applications, and approaches that were exposed and dis-cussed during the sessions of EQUIFASE 2018.We deeply thank the International Scientific and the Local Orga-nizing Committees for their dedication and recognize the greatwork they did at different levels, as well as the agencies and com-panies who supported EQUIFASE 2018. We also express our grati-tude to all the distinguished invited speakers and all the authorswho made the conference such a great event with theircontributions. Finally, we would like to thank all the members of the EditorialBoard of Fluid Phase Equilibria, especially Prof. Ana Soto, whoattended the conference and was very much involved since thebeginning with the realization of this special issue, and also Prof.Georgios Kontogeorgis who kindly accepted a double invitationfor an invited lecture and as a speaker in a round-table session.
