Resumen:
Objective. To evaluate the expression and immunolocalization of claudin-4 (CLDN4) in placentas from a murine model infected with Salmonella enterica. Methods. 8-week-old female CF1 mice received a high dose of Salmonella enterica (SE) (2x108 CFU/mouse) intragastrically. After 20 days post-infection, females were mated with males of the same strain. At gestational day 18 (day 38 post-infection) the pregnant females were sacrificed and 2-3 placentas per female were removed. The expression and localization of claudin-4 (CLDN4) in control and infected placentas were determined by real-time PCR, immunohistochemical staining and immunofluorescence. All experimental protocols were approved by the Animal Ethics Committee, University of Buenos Aires. Results.
