Resumen:
Austenitic- Ferritic duplex stainless steel are being used increasingly used as structural materials in teh industry. This is mainly due to their  relatively high strength and toughness as well as high resistance to corrosion and stress corrosion al mechanical and corrosion properties.   Although the tensile properties of  duplex stainless steels are well known, the cyclic properties and particularly  fatigue damage and the appearance of microfisures are less studied . The aim of the present paper is to study the surface-fatigue damage evolution on planar specimens of austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel SAF 2507. The mechanical tests have been performed under strain control with a total strain rage of Det =0.8% and a strain rate de/dt =3.10-3 s-1. The test has been performed at different number of cycles and the damage on its surface has been observed by optical microscopy using the differential interference contrast technique (Nomarki).      Keywords: duplex stainless steels, surface-fatigue damage evolution
