Descripción:
The goal of this work is to explore two protocols for the perceptual evaluation of F0 perturbation. One presentation is based on a scale of limits and uses subject?s internal reference and the second is a matching procedure where each stimulus is compared with the entire set to find the match. Responses of three group of listeners -speech therapists both experts and students, and common listeners- are shown when systematic variations of fundamental frequency for vowel /a/ were presented to them. Variations were produced by LPC synthesis using a F0 contour function obtained from a statistical jitter model. Seven jitter values were employed for each of two initial F0 values. Responses to estimation present higher deviation and less repeatability than the obtained for matching. For the second experiment there are no significant intra-subject differences for the answers of experts and students. We conclude that individual differences between speech therapist could be better managed when using the matching paradigm than using a magnitude scale.
