Resumen:
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) of tumor is base don the administration of a sensitizer, which is selective retained by the neoplasic tissue. Further irradiation of the area with light leads to the tumor death. In this work, we study the effects of the 5-(4-trimetiammonophenyl)-10,15,20-tris (2,4,6-trimethoxyphenyl)porphyrin (CP) on a human larynx carcinoma cell cultures (Hep-2) and laboratory animals (Balb/c mice). In vitro, the uptake of CP depends of porphyrin concentration and reaches a saturation value at about 30 h. The irradiation with light induces a decrease in cell survival. The type of cell death depends of light doses. The CP accumulates in the liver and intestine. Thus, it could be eliminated via bile-gut. CP was no detected in brain and in a very small level in skin, indicating that CP nor crosses blood-brain barrier or produces skin photosensitation. These photobiological properties indicates that CP could be an interesting photosensitizer with application in PDT.
