Resumen:
Dietary essential fatty acids content affects the reproductive success, with probable alterations in the maturation of thegametes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of diets with different omega-6 and omega-3 amount on: estrouscycle and oocyte quality of albino swiss mice.Three groups according to diets: control (commercial chow, C) or treated: they received C enriched with 10% of codfishliver oil (omega-3,CF) or sunflower oil (omega-6, S). Variables such as: corporal weight, food intake and estrous cycles(by vaginal cytology) where daily controlled. On the day of the first spontaneous estrous, after 25 days of diet, ovariesand oviducts were dissected. The former were weighted and the later punctuated at the ampulla to take out the oocytes.Ovulation rate and oocyte maturation were evaluated according to Lin and col. criteria. Statistics: ANOVA and Chi2,INFOSTAT.There were no significant differences in daily food intake, corporal or ovary weights, or in the length of the estrous cycles. In the estrous of CF: low cornified cells with high content of basophil granules (p
