Waiting-time constraints, bounding the minimumand maximum time of permanence in a given mode of aswitched system, can be included in optimization-based controlformulations by means of hard constraints. However, basicconcepts such as equilibrium and invariance sets are modifiedby these constraints, affecting the formal stability analysis.This paper explores general regions of the state space whereinswitched system trajectories under waiting-time constraints canfeasibly (and indefinitely) remain inside, replacing the conceptof invariance with those of permanence. Explicit algorithmsto compute these regions inside an (out of the origin) targetwindow are provided, while the glucose regulation problem forType 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) patients is considered as anexample to highlight its main properties.
