Resumen:
Asparagus is a perennial dioecious crop in which different types of hybrids have been developed and releases. In vitro culture of meristems is an efficient method that offers the possibility of multiplicate rapidly elite hybrids parental plants. The objectives of the present work was to evaluate the productive performance of 23 hybrids and the in vitro regeneration capability of four staminated and six pistillated plants, grown under green and white production, progenitors of hybrids that outyielded checks. A differential response was observed among genotypes for percentage of contaminated meristems (MC), shoot development (DV), rooted shoots (EN) and mean number of plantlets per cultured meristem (PP). Meristems from white spears showed higher MC (43.3%) than those from green spears. Genotype x type of production (white – green) interaction was only significant for DV and EN (G= 7.51, 13.1 respectively) gender of parental plant and type of production conditioned PP. Genetic variability and type of production should be considered to adequate best multiplication conditions of in vitro culture in this species
