Resumen:
The high-throughput sequencing (HTS) or next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologiesand associated bioinformatics tools have become a powerful approach for the development of entire genomes and transcriptomes, as well as molecular markers, on model and non-model organisms (Badenes et al. 2016). For non-model perennial trees, the HTS technologies provide a rapid way to access to genomic information crucial for breeding programmes considering their long generation times and long intervals of breeding cycle (Badenes et al. 2016). This chapter aims to examine the state-of-the-art scientific knowledge on the application of HTS technologies on forest trees, particularly on genomic resources and marker developmentfor Argentinean native species.
