Resumen:
UV/Vis absorption spectroelectrochemistry is a useful multiresponse technique thatsimultaneously provides electrochemical and spectroscopic signals, allowing to studycomplex electrochemical mechanisms [1]. We have used this technique to shed more light  on the electrochemical behaviour of 2-Hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde (o-vanillin)  [2].  This compound exhibits very interesting properties: it is free radical quencher with antioxidant activity, it is chimosensitizer, it can act as ligand for transition metals and it is also one of the most common precursors of Schiff bases. To elucidate the  electrochemical  mechanism  of  reaction,  cyclic  voltabsorptometry  results  were compared with results obtained using tools from the Density Functional Theory, Fig. 1
