Thematic Networks in the Argentine Economics Main Annual Meeting

This contributionpresents information on mainstream research topics in Argentina deduced from theanalysis of paper research codes published in the proceedings of main nationalmeeting. We gather data from the Asociación Argentina de Economía PolíticaAnnual Meeting from 1964 to 2014. By using network analysis we create thematicnetworks given that all paper must be tagged with at least two JEL codes. Weestimate network metrics and find main themes and clusters. Thematic networksshow clusters of codes and the analysis shows the preeminence of fields relatedto international trade, macroeconomics, labor market, distribution/poverty, andeconometric topics. These categories are potential indicators of the research agendaof the profession in the country.
