Resumen:
Segregation is an old social and economic issue of concern in several cities around the world. Fifty years ago, Schelling used a model of agents of two types (races in his original work) for warning that certain still mild mechanisms can impact on high levels of global segregation. In a simple way, agents became uncomfortable when the proportion of agents of the other type surrounding him is more than his threshold of tolerance (T), motivating him to move to another empty space. The original model was studied and modified including different mathematical tools and including some aspects of the real problem. In this work, we added new ingredients to the model inspired in some real cities where fixed boundaries (naturals or man-made) play the role of frontiers between the different types of populations: the existence of regions in the lattice inaccessible to the agents. We evaluate inaccessible space in the fashion of straight lines. We run simulations for low values of density of empty spaces (from 0.02 to 0.08) and different values of proportion of agents of each type. We observe and characterize to what extent that line of empty spaces can play the role of borders to divide populations and sustain the coexistence of the populations, and what representative is respect the total of the effective border.
