Nielsen theory and the fixed point property for simplicial complexes

A topological space X has the fixed point property if every selfmap of X has a fixed point. By Brouwer´s theorem, the disk D^n has the fixed point property. In this talk I will introduce some natural questions concerning the fixed point property, for example, is it preserved under products? I will give a brief introduction to Nielsen theory and explain how it allowed to answer these questions.
