The Yang-Baxter equation is an important tool in theoretical physicsand pure mathematics, with many applications in different domainsgoing from string theory to topology. The importance of this equationled Drinfeld to propose the following problem: studyingset-theoretical solutions. In this talk we will review the basictheory of this family of solutions, we will discuss some problems andwe will give some applications.
