The Yang-Baxter equation is an important tool in theoretical physicsand pure mathematics, with many applications in different domainsgoing from condensedmatter to topology. The importance of this equation led Drinfeld toask for studying the simplest family of solutions: combinatorial orset-theoreticalsolutions. In this talk we review the basic theory of set-theoreticalsolutions, we discuss some problems and solutions and we give someapplication.
