Resumen:
To quantify attention in humans beings, different paper and pencil tests have been implemented and used. Two of them, traditionally employed for clinical purposes, are the Trail Making Test (TMT parts A and B) and the Perception of Differences Test (PDT, or CARAS in Spanish). The results obtained, based on the time employed to perform the task and the correctness of the answers, are used to quantify the attention capabilities of the subjects evaluated. Eye tracking technology may significantly improve these assessments gathering indirect latent information about the subjects? performance. However, raw eye-tracking data interpretation still poses challenges, since most of the underlying processes are not well understood. We propose a novel analysis, based on statistical complexity measures, for time series obtained from a digitalized version of the test implemented under an eye tracking registration. Our aim is to understand the information provided by Shannon entropy and complexity related to the gaze trajectories, in order to contribute with a comprehensive description of them.
