Resumen:
The importance of signaling mediated by the epidermal growth factorreceptor (EGFR) during osteoclastogenesis in physiological conditionshas been established. S. aureus protein A is a critical virulencefactor that induces exacerbated osteoclastogenesis and bone damageduring the course of staphylococcal osteomyelitis. Consideringthat protein A signals through EGFR in epithelial cells, macrophagesand osteoclast precursors, the aim of this study was to determinethe impact of EGFR signaling initiated by S. aureus in the cytoskeletonrearrangements that are required for osteoclast formation.
