Resumen:
Spore morphology and wall structure of Dennstaedtia species from Phytogeographic Paranaense Province were studied using light microscopy (LM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM): Dennstaedtia cicutaria, D. cornuta, D. dissecta, D. globulifera, D. obtusifolia. Spores are trilete, brown, triangular in polar view and plane-hemispheric to plane-convex in equatorrial view. The polar diameter is 17-32 µm and equatorial diameter is 25-42 µm. The exospore is 100-900 nm and homogeneous, with two layers: the outer layer with two strata and an a single inner layer. The perispore is 100-600 nm thick, microalveolar and is composed by one or two layers. The sculpture is formed by the perispore, which can show verrucae, ridges and reticules, of different shape, size and fusion degree. Spheroidal bodies inmersed or on the surface spore can be seen. The structure, stratification and exospore ultrastructure is similar in all the species into the genus; but different groups of species can be joined by the different kinds of ornamentation.
