Resumen:
Fuzzy sets theory and linguistic models are a bridge connecting the mathematical and the language-oriented economists. The direct method more widely used for measuring poverty is known as the "Unsatisfied Basic Needs". This method consists in checking whether the households have met a number of requirements previously defined. The fuzzy approach to measure poverty allows to capture its different levels without loosing information. In this paper we present a linguistic model for evaluating the degree of dissatisfaction of certain basic needs. It is based on a new approach for linguistic framework and linguistic aggregation operators which compute with words directly defined by Xu.
