Resumen:
A key point found in the study was that the efficiency in the heat transfer from the oil to the air is basically limited by the thermal resistance in the adjacent boundary layer as the air raises in the channel between two fins. Assuming a constant temperature on the fin, the air absorbs heat as it raises. Assuming laminar flow and a constant channel section, the flow is purely axial. So heat can flow from the fluid to the wall only by conduction. At the entrance (lower section AB)heat must traverse a small width δ from the hot bulk of the fluid.As width δ of the thermal boundary layer grows the thermal resistancegrows and the thermal flux from wall to air is lower.
